The Snyder Chamber of Commerce Hotel Occupancy Tax Fund voted to recommend funding for three events when it met Monday.
Luis Alaniz presented a request for $8,000 to help fund Snyder’s Diez y Seis de Septiembre festival, scheduled Sept. 11 and 12. According to Alaniz, the event will include a parade, a washer-pitching tournament, a corn hole tournament, food vendors and music. Alaniz expects to have 30 teams for the washer-pitching tournament and 50 teams for the cornhole tournament. The committee voted to recommend a $6,500 grant with 12.5 percent to be withheld until the post-event report is submitted.
Ellie Gonzales requested $10,000 to help fund the Snyder Bike Rally Oct. 2 through 4. The event will take place at The Coliseum, Gonzales said.
According to Gonzales, the bike rally is a family-friendly event consisting of a bike parade known as the Bruce Stewart Lighted Parade, a poker run, vendors, entertainment and field events sponsored by Bikers Against Child Abuse.

Josh Ortegon requested $10,000 to help fund White Buffalo Days, scheduled Oct. 2 and 3. The event will return to the downtown square this year. Ortegon said that, with many events canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plans are to make White Buffalo Days bigger and better than usual, incorporating some of the events that had been skipped due to the virus.
A “huge” petting zoo and carnival are planned, he noted, as well as a small car show, vendors, live music and a 5K run. The committee voted to recommend funding of $10,000.
The full chamber board will vote on the recommendations when it meets June 15.
