Retailers had their best month of the year across Scurry County, according to August sales tax allocations released by the Comptroller’s office on Wednesday.
Scurry County is scheduled to receive $232,004 in sales tax allocations this month based on sales in August by businesses that report taxes on a monthly basis. The $232,004 tops the previous 2019 high of $223,930 received in May.
Compared to last year’s $210,408, the county’s allocation this year was 10.26 percent higher.
For the year, Scurry County has received more than $2.02 million, up 13.56 percent compared to the October 2018 total of more than $1.78 million.
Snyder’s allocation was the fourth highest of the year. The $297,319 for August sales was up 9 percent compared to last year’s total of $272,762. The top three allocation months of 2019 have been May ($358,342), August ($323,318) and July ($299,934)
Year-to-date, Snyder has received more than $2.9 million, an 11.94 percent increase compared to 2018’s year-to-date total of nearly $2.6 million.
The Comptroller’s office will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $773.1 million in local sales tax allocations for October, 5.1 percent more than in October 2018.
