The Scurry County Commissioners’ Court, on Tuesday, will vote on establishing a maintenance program for the Cavendar Road truck bypass project.
Engineer Dennis Seal developed the program, which will have to be approved by the county and Lone Wolf Construction, the company that built the road.
The road conditions have been questioned during prior meetings, including a Sept. 6 meeting in which commissioners voted to release a $474,262 check to Lone Wolf Construction for the work.
At that meeting, commissioners wanted to receive a third-party opinion on the road’s condition.
At that time, Pct. 1 Commissioner Terry Williams said the road was rough and gravel was coming loose. Lone Wolf’s Project Manager Dan Milligan told the court that the road “can be fixed.”
In September, Lone Wolf proposed an additional year maintenance bond in case any issues arise after the one-year warranty expired.
An updated tax abatement agreement with Fluvanna Wind Energy, LLC, will be voted by the court. Since the tax abatement criteria was updated by commissioners, it effects the agreement approved earlier this year. No changes in the abatement terms will be made. The county approved a 10-year, 100-percent tax abatement for the project.
The court will canvass the returns of  the Nov. 8 election and vote on paying overtime to county employees who worked the election on Veterans Day, which was a county holiday.
Commissioners will formally return the Northeast Community Center to the Greene family. The center belongs to the county, but the agreement called for the facility to return to the family if it was not being used.
The court will vote on any line-item transfers and budget amendments.
The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Scurry County Courtroom, located on the third floor of the Scurry County Courthouse, and is open to the public.
