After taking no action on a partnership for a transmission line training center at the SnTx Industrial Park, the Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS) board of directors will vote on it during Wednesday’s meeting.
The board authorized DCOS Executive Director Bill Lavers to continue discussions about the partnership with Primary Utilities Services.
Lavers will also provide an update on the street light painting project first presented in November. At that time, the board approved allocating $10,000 to paint the poles black and purchase decorative bases.
The money was included in the 2016-17 budget and $4,200 would be used from remaining funds allocated by the board in 2015. The board approved allocating $18,700 for downtown projects in 2015.
Lavers at that time said the pole-painting project would include the 34 poles — 22 on city-owned property and 12 on county-owned property — around the square and the cost to paint those poles, which was to be done by Oncor, would be $100 each. The bases will cost $250 each, he said.
However, Oncor officials told Lavers that the cost did not include the arms at that top of the poles that hold the lights.
At that time Lavers sent an email to Oncor, blaming them for the “Hodge poge of mi mis matched light heads,” in Snyder and stating he would no longer work with the utility.
The poles were painted silver by Oncor crews in 2014.
The board will also receive an update on the Drone Zone parking pad. Lavers said the cost should not exceed $20,000, but the board asked that the city be contacted about constructing the pad.
A resolution for the minutes to “reflect that the DCOS contribution to the USDA RBDG (U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Block Development Grant) in-kind contribution is the Drone Zone, 36 acres with parking, for a value of $166,500” will also be discussed and voted on by the board.
Directors will vote on a $5,000 request from the Scurry County Museum to help pay the educator’s salary.
A closed session to discuss real property, incentives and prospects will be held during the meeting. Any action will be done in open session.
The meeting will begin at 7 a.m. in the DCOS boardroom, located at 2514 Ave. R, and is open to the public.
