• Arrests
Kevin Darrell Bennett, 34, was arrested at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday at the Scurry County Sheriff’s Office on 132nd District Court warrants for failure to appear at a show cause hearing regarding court-ordered parent education and family stabilization course and failure to appear at a show cause hearing regarding failure to pay court costs.
Thomas Royal Gonzales, 22, was arrested at the Scurry County Jail at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday on a motion to adjudicate guilt on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance.
At 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, a 42-year-old male was arrested in the 2900 block of Ave. X on four municipal court warrants for animal at-large and one for junk vehicles.
At 7 p.m. Wednesday, a 34-year-old male was arrested in the 500 block of 33rd Street on warrants for no driver’s license, displaying expired registration, failure to maintain financial responsibility, wrong license plate registration and debit/credit card abuse. A 47-year-old female was also arrested at the same time and location for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Accidents
A two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1300 block of 26th Street at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday.
At 5:04 p.m. Wednesday, a vehicle hit a tree on U.S. Hwy. 180, approximately one mile west of the Borden/Scurry County line. One person was transported to Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
• Fires
Controlled burns were called in at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday from Pump Specialist, Inc., at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday from the 1400 block of Ave. Q, at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday from the 8900 block of CR 473 and at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday from T&K Dairy.
• Animal concerns
Two horses were loose at the intersection of Ave. P and Hargrove Ave. at 7:04 a.m. Wednesday.
At 8 a.m. Wednesday, cows were loose in the 3800 block of CR 146.
Two horses were loose in the 1200 block of Ave. O at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday.
At 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, a horse was loose at the intersection of Ave. T and 16th Street.
• Wednesday blotter notes
Scurry County EMS responded to four medical calls.
Three non-accident, traffic-related calls were received.
Two alarms were reported.
One close patrol was requested.
One welfare check was requested.
Seven 911 hang-up calls were received.
Law enforcement responded to one civil issue.
