Landon Dodd is no stranger to Snyder, but his performance on Saturday night will be a little different.
Dodd admitted he did not know much about the West Texas Rehabilitation Center when he was asked to perform at the annual Rehab Christmas Ball at The Coliseum, but after researching the center he is glad he agreed.
“It is always great when you get to do things like this,” he said. “I talked to a couple of people and they said it is a great facility. It is great to support a cause like this.”
Dodd said he appreciated the center providing services to families in West Texas.
“They provide services regardless of a family’s ability to pay. They are filling a void in West Texas,” he said.
Dodd, the 2011 Academy of Western Artist’s male vocalist of the year, has performed at the West Texas Western Swing Festival several times.
He said people attending Saturday’s ball, which will begin at 7 p.m., will enjoy the show, but said dancing will be the main entertainment.
“If they are not dancing, it is because they will need to sit down to rest. We are not a show band,” Dodd said of his group, The Dancehall Drifters.
He said they will perform some of his music when they take the stage at 8 p.m., but will also perform other artists’ songs.
“We will dive into the 1960s and 1970s country stuff and a lot of dance hall music,” Dodd said.
Christmas music will also be featured.
“The guys do a good instrumental Christmas melody,” he said. “We love this time of year.”
