Fathers and daughters can spend an evening dancing and visiting during Shining Star Sports’ second annual father-daughter dance.
This year’s theme is The Little Mermaid.
Stephen and Michelle Read, who started Shining Stars to encourage healthy lifestyles, started the dances because of the impact a similar event had on their daughters when their family lived in San Angelo.
The Reads are encouraging fathers to go above and beyond by taking their daughters out to dinner, giving them corsages, doing a “big ask,” or inviting their daughters to the dance in a special way, holding hands or simply giving their undivided attention to their daughters for an evening.
There will be door prizes, souvenirs and snacks at the dance.
There will also be a dance contest, with prizes for the best routine.
The dance will be Saturday in the Snyder High School Cafeteria from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $30 per father-daughter pair, plus an extra $12 for each additional child. At the door, tickets will be $40 per pair and $15 for each additional child.
Tickets may be purchased at Just D’Vine Gifts and More or online at www.snyderdance.com.
Proceeds will go to help Shining Stars continue to help fund soccer, flag football, T-ball and track and field leagues.
Shining Stars also hosts an annual mother-son dodge ball tournament.
