Fifteen SHS choir members qualify for state

Fifteen members of the Snyder High School choir earned a trip to the state competition later this year during Saturday’s University Interscholastic League Region 16 solo and ensemble contest at McMurry University.
Snyder had 20 choir members compete in Abilene.
Members who received a superior rating in the Class I solo competition qualified for the state solo and ensemble competition, which will be held in May at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville.
Qualifying for state were Caleigh Bragg, Daniel Drake, Ethan Gowin, Brody Jasso, Brendon Jasso, Kaiden Johnson, Talee Jones, Andrea Juarez, Meagan Leatherwood, Nicole Martinez, Hunter McCarter, Ben McQuirk, Brett Robertson, Donovan Soria and AmyAnn Villenueva.
The quartet of Drake, McCarter, McQuirk and Soria earned a superior rating in the ensemble contest.
Three students — Zevadiah Cooper, Alyssa Saiz and Desiree Torrez — received a superior rating on a Class II or Class III solo, but did not advance to state.
Five students earned an excellent rating. They were Hannah Alcatraz, Savannah Clarady, Shi Dowds, Jasmine Glynn and Matthew Sharp.
