Up to four inches of rain reported in Scurry County

Some areas of Snyder and Scurry County received significant rainfall totals this weekend.
Areas east of Snyder received up to four inches while the SnTx Industrial Park received 2.53 inches, which was the fifth highest total among the West Texas Mesonet reporting stations. Wall had the highest 96-hour rainfall total among Mesonet stations at 6.38 inches.
While the east side of town received more than one inch of rain, the west side did not fare as well. Western Texas College received 0.92 of an inch and Winston Field, which is the official reporting station for the National Weather Service, received 0.56 of an inch. 
Lake Alan Henry and Fluvanna received 0.92 of an inch and 0.88 of an inch, respectively.
Sweetwater received 1.87 inches, followed by Lamesa at 1.53, Gail at 1.39 and Rotan at 1.16.
With the weekend rainfall, Snyder has received 12.65 inches year-to-date, which is the fifth highest total of the decade.
The most rain this decade, through Aug. 12, was 24.03 inches in 2015. The lowest total on Aug. 12 this decade was 3.32 inches in 2011, the year of the Texas drought.
The rain also helped lower weekend temperatures. The high on Saturday was 89 degrees, while on Sunday it was 79 degrees.
The weather service forecast a 20 percent chance of rain tonight, but sunny skies are forecast to return the remainder of the week with highs in the mid 90s.
