Snyder police are seeking information in an armed robbery investigation after a man carrying a handgun demanded cash at the 888 Game Room on Coliseum Drive Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:58 p.m. Tuesday, Scurry County dispatch received a 911 call of a robbery in progress. The caller stated a black male wearing a black shirt, black shorts and a cap was in the game room, carrying a weapon and demanding money.
Within minutes, the Snyder Police Department, Scurry County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Snyder Fire Department and Scurry County EMS were on scene.
At least 11 law enforcement and emergency vehicles responded and officers and deputies carrying rifles entered the building to search for suspects.
Snyder Police Chief Terry Luceke said the suspect fled before law enforcement arrived.
“Based on surveillance video footage, the man is likely in his 20s,” Luceke said. “We believe him to be between five feet, seven inches and five feet, nine inches tall with a slender build. He left the building on foot, but we’re still trying to obtain more information.”
Luecke said there were no shots fired and no injuries. There was no damage done inside the game room and no hostages were taken.
Luecke said the suspect left with an undetermined amount of money.
Law enforcement spoke with witnesses and the owners of the game room to try to obtain information. Evidence was collected at the game room. The last two investigators left the scene an hour after the first response.
Luecke said the investigation is ongoing and that any information regarding the situation should be submitted to the police department.
“We will hopefully know more soon,” Luecke said. “If you have any information, contact the police department.”
