A Level 3 public hearing requested by Snyder Junior High School coach and boys’ athletic coordinator Carlos Cantu for Thursday night was postponed until Tuesday because the posted agenda was not specific enough.
Cantu told Superintendent Jim Kirkland Thursday morning that he was requesting a hearing in open session, but the request came too late to discuss the matter during last night’s meeting.
Four people attended Thursday’s school board meeting and signed a sheet indicating they were there in support of Cantu.
One of the four, Veronica Maldonado, also requested to address the board on behalf of Cantu.
Board president Ralph Ramon told Maldonado that the public hearing was not going to be held, and explained the hearing will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Maldonado then said she would wait until Tuesday to make comments.
The hearing will be in the Snyder ISD administration building boardroom and is open to the public.
