Light winter weather expected this week

Worried about another big snowfall this week? It’s probably not going to happen, according to the National Weather Service.
“We’re going to see a mixture,” said NWS meteorologist Matthew Johnson. “Currently right there in Snyder we’re showing possible rain mixed with freezing rain and sleet, so it’s kind of this combo wintery mix. It should transition over into snow later tonight, after around 5 or 6 p.m., when the temperatures drop below freezing.”
But don’t expect anything like last week, he said.
“When it comes to a big accumulation of snow, it shouldn’t be too much,” Johnson said. “I’m showing right now 0.6 inches. Nothing in comparison to what we had last week, but there is a chance for freezing rain. That could be an issue today as the day goes on.”
Warming days and cold nights should be the pattern this week, he said.
“Tonight the low should be around 27, and then tomorrow it should quickly jump up to 53, then we’ll have another cold night,” said Johnson. “I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily warming up because Thursday it’s going to be around 45, and Friday the high will be 54.”
After Wednesday, Johnson said there’s no precipitation in the forecast.
“We should see a 20 percent chance of showers on Wednesday, and like a 30 percent chance of snow showers,” he said.
This weekend’s weather is shaping up nicely.
“As of now we have it warming up to around 67 degrees, so it looks like it should be a really nice weekend,” he said.
