A man was transported to a Lubbock hospital early this morning after suffering what the Scurry County Sheriff’s Office is calling an “accidental, self-inflicted gunshot” wound to his lower leg.
At 12:19 a.m. today, law enforcement received a call from the T&K Dairy on CR 461 regarding a man who had been shot, possibly in the foot. Scurry County Sheriff’s deputies and Scurry County EMS were dispatched. The man, who was not identified, was transported to Cogdell Memorial Hospital and then to Lubbock, though Scurry County Sheriff Trey Wilson said he was not certain to which hospital the man was transported.
Wilson said the man was shot “in his lower leg, below the kneecap” and that the wound is being classified as accidental and appears to have been self-inflicted.
“From everything I can tell, it accidentally discharged,” Wilson said. “We’re still investigating it and trying to gather information.”
The man’s condition is unknown at this time.
