Voting for the May 24 Republican and Democratic primary runoffs will be held on the first floor of the Scurry County Courthouse.
County Clerk Melody Appleton said she received approval from Scurry County Republican Party Chairman Drew Bullard and the Texas Democratic Party to have one polling location for the runoff.
Appleton said she had to receive approval from both parties because they are each party’s elections.
“This is not a county election so we had to get their approval,” she said.
Early voting will be held May 16-20 on the first floor of the Scurry County Courthouse from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On May 24, the courthouse will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Republican Party nomination for the Scurry County Commissioners’ Court Pct. 3 seat will be determined between Shawn McCowen and Howard Limmer.
Glen Robertson and Jodey Arrington will meet for the Republican Party nomination for the District 19 U.S. House of Representatives seat.
Other Republican Party runoffs will be for Railroad Commissioner (Gary Gates and Wayne Christian), the Place 2 seat on the Criminal Appeals Court (Mary Lou Keel and Ray Wheless) and the Pace 5 seat on the Court of Criminal Appeals (Scott Walker and Brent Webster).
The only Democratic Party runoff will be for Railroad Commissioner. Grady Yarbrough will face Cody Garrett.
Appleton said since both parties will have a runoff, voters may only cast ballots in the primary in which they voted in on March 1. Anyone who did not vote on March 1 is eligible to vote in the runoff they choose, she said.
To be eligible to vote in the election, a person must be registered by April 25.
