Motorcycle rally not on chamber events calendar

The Snyder Chamber of Commerce has released its events calendar for 2016 and a date for the annual motorcycle rally is not included.
Chamber officials have not decided if the rally, which has been held in August, will take place this year. Board members have discussed moving the event back to October as well as cancelling the event. Last year’s event lost more than $85,000.
The chamber will be involved in the promotion of several events, including the University Interscholastic League’s Class 5A regional basketball tournaments. The girls’ tournament will be held Feb. 26-27 at The Coliseum while the boys’ will play March 4-5.
The Western Texas College Rodeo is scheduled for March 31 through April 2 at The Coliseum.
On April 21, the annual chamber membership banquet will be held at The Coliseum. Entertainment will be provided by New York Dueling Pianos of Fort Worth.
May 6-7 will be a busy weekend in Snyder with the Snyder Wheels Car Club show and cruise on the square and the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center May Day celebration at The Coliseum.
The West Texas Western Swing Festival will be held June 8-11 at The Coliseum. The chamber staff is finalizing the acts for the four-day event.
The annual Fourth of July celebration in Towle Park will be held July 3-4 and White Buffalo Days are scheduled for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
December’s schedule will begin with the lighted Christmas parade and community tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 3. Snyder Trade Days will be held Dec. 3-4 and the West Texas Rehabilitation Center’s Big Country Christmas Ball is on Dec. 16 at The Coliseum.
The chamber’s annual holiday open house will be held Dec. 19.
