Scurry County Clerk Melody Appleton said time is running out to register to vote or change voting information prior to the Nov. 6 general election or local school district elections.
Due to Oct. 6 falling on a Saturday and Oct. 8 being a federal and state holiday, the deadline to register to vote was pushed back to Oct. 9. Appleton said the deadline to register to vote or change information is usually 30 days prior to the election.
“Anyone new to Scurry County that wants to vote will need to register,” she said. “Anyone who needs to update their address must do so by Oct. 9. You need to review your voter ID card to make sure everything is correct.”
A person may register or update voter information at the County Clerk’s office located on the third floor of the Scurry County Courthouse from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
