The Snyder High School Pride of the West marching band will march on familiar ground at its University Interscholastic League (UIL) regional competition on Monday.
The competition will be held at Wylie High School in Abilene, the same location where the band marched in the Big Country Marching Festival this week. In order to advance from the regional competition, the band will need to receive a better rating than the “division two” rating they received from judges on Monday.
Band Director Jeremiah McCurdy said that despite the rating, the judges’ remarks gave him some optimism heading into regionals.
“The comments from the judges were very optimistic,” McCurdy said. “They did reinforce many of the items that we are currently working towards improving the show for Monday’s UIL contest.”
If the band advances from regionals, they would go to the area competition in Lubbock in November.
