A second Snyder ISD employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a letter from Superintendent Dr. Eddie Bland issued Wednesday evening, the employee had been working at Snyder High School. The letter goes on to say that the employee, who Bland does not identify, “…quarantined immediately, was wearing a mask and did not have prolonged, close contact with students or staff.”

According to the letter, the employee will not be allowed to return to work until they have recovered and met the requirements listed on the district’s website.

In the letter, Bland notes that the case has “no apparent link” to another employee who tested positive for the virus earlier this week.

That employee works at Snyder Primary School, and has also quarantined since testing positive.

In the letter Bland said the district is taking steps including daily cleaning and disinfecting, implementing social distancing and daily screening for symptoms. This fall, all staff and students in fourth through 12th grades will be required to wear a mask when social distancing cannot be maintained. Masks are optional for students in Pre-K through third grade.
