Snyder school board members will consider nearly $600,000 in construction projects during a special meeting Thursday.
Four separate construction projects are up for consideration: resurfacing the track at Tiger Stadium (not to exceed $105,000), resurfacing the playground at Snyder Primary School (not to exceed $385,000), a roof maintenance agreement with Parsons Roofing (not to exceed $30,000) and roof repair at Snyder High School indoor athletic facility (not to exceed $65,000).
Snyder ISD STEM director Ryan Maney and five students will share information about a STEM competition in San Diego, Calif., they hope to travel to.
Because it’s an out-of-state event, the board must approve the trip as well as expenses. The cost of the trip will not  exceed $9,000.
Trustees are also expected to vote to John Rush, David Tate, Keith Parker and Bailey Latham to a committee overseeing threat assessment and safe and supportive schools within the district, in compliance with a requirement of Senate Bill 11.
The agenda also includes hiring two first-year teachers — Yesenia Huitron of Socorro and Ashley Gantenbeig of Lubbock.
Trustees will meet in closed session to discuss personnel matters. Any action resulting from discussions in closed session will be taken when the board returns to open session.
After the closed session, school board members will discuss Superintendent Dr. Eddie Bland’s evaluation before voting on his contract.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Administration Building boardroom and is open to the public.
