Snyder ISD trustees will vote on a resolution involving the financing of six school buses and five SUVs Thursday they previously agreed to purchase.

The vehicles will be financed by a loan of $750,000 at an interest rate of 2.15 percent for four years by Community Bank of Snyder, which had the lowest interest rate of the local banks, and purchased from Reagor Dykes, which submitted the lowest bid.

School board members will also vote on major expenses for asphalt repairs at the Snyder primary and intermediate school campuses, online textbooks and material for the CTE program at the high school and for technology/hardware for the district’s network infrastructure. Board members must approve expenses over $25,000.

Trustees will vote whether to hire Underwood Law Firm for legal work related to Lincoln Clean Energy’s wind project as well as whether to approve an agreement limiting the appraised value of property related to the project.

Ron Hester is moving out of the district and trustees will consider how to fill his seat, which expires in 2019. A new member can be appointed, but would have to run for the full term in May as an at-large member. They will also vote on changing instructor Jeff Marburger’s contract from a 10-month to an 11-month contract.

Trustees will also vote on the second reading of a policy update related to instructional resources and materials, credit by examination, graduation and community relations.

Updates on the district’s legal counsel services, State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness passing rates, participation in a Texas A&M research study involving science technology and requirements for determining grade point averages and class ranking will be given. The board will vote on the class ranking policy in August.

A closed session will be held on personnel and the Mark McCormick scholarship recipient will be presented. Any action from the closed session will be done in open session.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the administration building boardroom and a time has been set aside for public comments.
