The Snyder ISD board of trustees on Monday approved the superintendent search profile compiled by Ronnie Kincaid of the Region 14 Education Service Center, with one addition.
Under the heading, Leadership and Management Skills, the board agreed to add “successful educator” at the suggestion of trustee Ronnie Anderson.
It will be added to the lists that also includes motivator, decisive leader, organized and efficient and accessible.
Trustees also instructed Kincaid to post the opening immediately rather than waiting until Jan. 3 as he had previously proposed. Applications will be taken through Feb. 3.
Kincaid said 370 online responses of the community survey were received and most fell in line with the school board members’ responses.
Kincaid said the responses indicated that the new superintendent should be able to effectively advocate district issues to all groups.
“We received 35 responses from the Hispanic community,” he said.
He said their responses indicated as a group that they want to be involved in the district.
Kincaid said responses from the staff and others in the community showed that there was still confidence in the district’s finances, but “those who responded indicated they would like to be told why the district was spending the money it does.”
“Rebuilding the trust in the district was also emphasized,” said Kincaid.
Kincaid said curriculum and instruction, budget and finance and communication skills were at the top of the skills list.
Residing in the district and being active in the community were also emphasized in responses.
The trustees said they would consider a three-year contract for the new superintendent and that the salary and other benefits, such as vehicle and moving allowance, would be negotiable.
