Car enthusiasts, get your rides ready for cruise night with the Snyder Wheels Car Club.

With its annual car show impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, club members decided to hold a virtual show and cruise rather than entirely canceling the event due to social distancing restrictions.

“We can’t host our annual car show, but we understand the love people have for their cars,” said Social Events Coordinator Barbara Leatherwood.

“We’re just trying to spread the love of cars around since we all are missing the car shows we usually attend.”

Last year, the cruise had 75 entries, and Leatherwood said there was really no way to estimate how many participants they would have Saturday.

Club members are hoping that the event will be a fun way for participants to get out of their houses to show off their cars, trucks, motorcycles and other rides.

Spectators are invited to line the streets, but are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines.

“Since we are just cruising at our own leisure, everyone who is in town and wants to cruise is welcome to,” Leatherwood said. “It’s always fun to get out, wash up our rides and cruise together. We hope it’s just a fun night for everyone.”

The virtual show and cruise night are free and open to anyone.

The cruise lineup will begin at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at the Towle Park Barn and the cruise will start at 7 p.m. The cruise route traditionally leaves Towle Park onto College Avenue, traveling to the downtown square and then back to the park.

Photos for the virtual show will be accepted through email at snydercarshow@yahoo.com and posted to the Snyder Wheels Car Club Facebook page.
