Statewide gas price average tops $2

Holiday travelers will have to spend a little more at the gas stations this year, according to the latest gas prices released by AAA Texas.
Retail gasoline prices are up 4 cents this week to top the $2 per gallon mark for the first time since mid-November.
AAA Texas reported the statewide average price at the pump reached $2.03 per gallon. Nationwide gasoline prices rose 3 cents to an average $2.23 per gallon.
According to gasbuddy.com, Scurry County’s average gas price today is $2.19 per gallon.
The AAA survey found San Antonio has the cheapest gasoline in Texas at $1.95 per gallon. Drivers in Dallas have the state’s highest gasoline price at $2.07 per gallon.
Retail prices have risen since the Nov. 30 OPEC oil production agreement to cut output in 2017.
AAA officials predict more than 8.2 million Texans will travel during the year-end holidays — slightly more than last year. The holiday travel period begins Dec. 23 and runs through Jan. 2.
