Twenty-eight floats entered in Saturday parade

Twenty-eight floats will parade through Snyder Saturday during the Snyder Chamber of Commerce’s annual lighted Christmas parade.
Events Coordinator Josh Ortegon said manygroups will be part of the parade, including walkers. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by the community tree lighting ceremony in the downtown plaza at 7:30 p.m.
The chamber will accept parade entries through 4 p.m. today, Ortegon said.
Activities in the downtown area are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. when Kendallie’s Dance and Performing Arts students perform. Vendors will open at 6 p.m.
Parade entries will begin lining up at 5:30 p.m. at the Snyder Shopping Center, located in the 3500 block of College Ave.
The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and travel toward the downtown area and around the square.
After the parade, Santa Claus is scheduled to land by helicopter on the First Baptist Church parking lot and join the tree lighting ceremony.
Several other Christmas activities will be held this weekend.
Santa Claus will take pictures with children from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Gallery Warehouse Furniture. There is no cost for the picture.
The annual West Texas Rehabilitation Center Rehab Ball will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Coliseum.
Landon Dodd and The Dancehall Drifters will perform. Tickets are $15 per person and will be sold at the door.
The Scurry County Cowboy Church in Dunn will hold a craft sale from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds will be used to purchase hymnals and the new building fund.
