Heavy rain pelted Scurry County Wednesday and early today, and even more is in the forecast.
The National Weather Service reported that 1.15 inches of rain fell at its reporting station at Winston Field Wednesday, but even heavier rain fell this morning.
No injuries or significant property damage was reported, but wet conditions forced the postponement of today’s Southwest Dairy Day event at T&K Dairy.
The event has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. Monday.
A storm system moving through the area dumped rain along the northern part of the county, with other areas reporting significantly lower amounts.
Residents in the Lloyd Mountain area northeast of Snyder reported receiving 4.5 inches of rain as of 6 a.m. today, while Fluvanna reported receiving just 0.92 of an inch of rain Wednesday. Western Texas College reported 0.99 of an inch of rain, while the SnTx Industrial park reported just 0.06 of an inch of rain, according to West Texas Mesonet.
Gail reported 0.74 of an inch of rain, Colorado City reported 1.16 inches of rain and Sweetwater recorded 1.92 inches of precipitation.
More rain is in the forecast for today.
