Randy Hays
1946-2020
Mr. Randy Hays, 73, a longtime Scurry County resident and rancher, died Feb. 29, 2020, in Snyder after a lengthy illness, with his loving wife of 50 years, Jessi Jo, by his side.
Graveside services were held on Monday, March 2, at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder, officiated by Pastor Danny Williams, under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Hays was born in Lubbock on March 14, 1946, to S. D. and Judy McDonell Hays. He graduated from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio. While attending Angelo State University, he met the love of his life, Jessie Jo Ault, and they were married on Oct. 25, 1969, on the Hays ranch, which has remained home for 51 years. From this union was born a daughter, Shanna, and a son, Shawn.
He enjoyed the memorable times traveling with the kids taking them to compete in numerous Quarter Horse shows across many states and Canada. Randy was most proud to be "G-Paw" to his two grandsons, Bryce and Hunter and enjoyed taking them rabbit hunting and letting them drive the pickup on pasture roads. He ranched in New Mexico and in Dickens, as well as in Snyder.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents and by his daughter, Shanna.
Survivors include his wife; his son, Shawn Hays and his wife, Tammy, and grandsons, Bryce and Hunter Hays, all of Nocona; a brother-in-law, Tommy Ault and wife, Veronica “Ronnie,” of Lometa; two nieces, Stacy Hendrick and her husband, Jason, and Joni Thorp and husband, Randy, and also one nephew, Thad Ault, all of Lampasas; and numerous cousins, great nephews and nieces. Also left to honor his life are many faithful friends whose prayers helped sustain the family through the darkest times.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Texas Boys Ranch, American Cancer Association or charity of choice.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jim Burleson, Dr. Tom Kerr, Cogdell Home Health and Hospice, Kenny Robinson and the staff and caregivers of Goodlife Senior Living of Snyder.
