The Scurry County Commissioners’ Court will take bids on the automated weather system from Winston Field Airport.
The old system was replaced as part of a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation and the county has been contacted by at least three other county judges and airport directors interested in purchasing the old system.
Scurry County Judge Ricky Fritz said the county will take bids for 30 days and said he was not sure how much the county could get for the system.
County Auditor Angela Sanchez said the county has not yet received the bill for the new system. Commissioners unanimously approved the motion to take bids.
The commissioners voted 3-0 to adopt the TexPool resolution allowing Julie Fritz to make transfers from the county’s TexPool account in case Scurry County Treasurer Nelda Colvin is out of the office. Pct. 1 Commissioner Terry Williams abstained because Julie Fritz is his niece.
Commissioners also adopted a resolution on the 2016 Indigent Defense Grant Program from the Texas Indigent Defense Commission.
Commissioners approved two line-item transfers for the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center — $500 from maintenance to copier supplies and $5,000 from utilities to operating expenses — due to the center being over budget.
Commissioners also approved a $2,021 line-item transfer for Hermleigh Water Works from utilities to equipment to purchase a new well shed which was originally budgeted for 2016, but needs to be purchased earlier.
Ricky Fritz said, when he presented the 2016 budget to the court, that he did not budget any capital expenses in 2016 except for the truck bypass project.
Commissioners also approved a $600 line-item transfer for the maintenance department from maintenance repairs and miscellaneous to auto expenses to replace the brake pads and rotors on the department’s pick-up truck.
