The Ira ISD board of trustees, on Monday, may name a lone finalist for its superintendent’s position after conducting follow-up interviews.
The board will hold a special meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Roy Sallee Gym boardroom. Trustees will go into closed session to interview the candidates. Board president Dennis Taylor said during a meeting last week that the board planned to interview two candidates for a second time on Monday.
If a lone finalist is named, that will be done in open session. After naming a finalist, the district will have to wait the state-mandated 21 days before finalizing a contract.
The board conducted two interviews on April 9 and two interviews on April 10, all in closed session. A fifth candidate withdrew from consideration after accepting a position at another district.
The board is interviewing candidates to replace Jay Waller, who will retire effective June 30.
Monday’s meeting is open the public.
