PLAINS — The Snyder seventh grade Gold team won the Plains Volleyball Tournament Saturday.
Snyder defeated Loop 25-22, 25-19 and the Plains A team 25-22, 17-25, 25-15. Snyder won the championship match over Talkington, 25-23, 25-23.
Eighth Grade
The Snyder Black team was the co-champions with the Snyder Gold team in the eighth grade bracket.
Snyder defeated Talkington, 25-16, 25-19. Baylee Freeman and Alexia Estrada each had seven service points. The Lady Tigers beat the Plains A team, 25-17, 15-25, 25-22. Freeman had 11 services points, followed by Kirsten Luera with eight service points.
“I’m proud of the team,” coach Amy Grotjohn said. “They played well and showed incredible character on and off the court.”

Snyder vs. Talkington — Baylee Freeman 7, Alexia Estrada 7, Kirsten Luera 6, Marissa Amaya 6, Victoria Cross 1.
Snyder vs. Plains A team — Baylee Freeman 11, Kirsten Luera 8, Marissa Amaya 7, Alexia Estrada 4, Angelina Gutierrez 2, Shelby Salinas 1.
Seventh Grade
The Snyder seventh grade Black team lost to Talkington and defeated the Plains B team in the seventh grade bracket.
Snyder lost to Talkington, 25-21, 25-11. Nahava Williams and Sylvia Martinez had four service points. The Lady Tigers defeated the Plains B team, 25-13, 23-25, 15-7. Ava Martinez had 11 service points, followed by Sylvia Martinez with six service points.
“The team played well,” coach A’lex Koonce said. “We came back and won the last match. It’s about having fun and learning the game.”
Snyder Junior High School will play at Wylie Thursday.
