Veneta Joy Groves
1934-2024
Mrs. Veneta Joy Groves, 89, of Lubbock passed away April 16 at her home in Lubbock.
Mrs. Veneta Joy Groves was born on November 24, 1934, to Grady and Lottie (Gee) Jackson. Joy graduated from Snyder High School in 1953. Veneta married Jerry Groves on January 23, 1954 in Clovis, NM. Joy enjoyed working at Texas Tech University Bookstore for many years. She was know as Nana to her family and friends. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could grow the biggest red geraniums. She loved Texas Tech and watching all sports. She will be missed by many, and those who she helped by volunteering at many organizations throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Lottie Jackson; brother, Donnie Jackson; grandchildren, Cody Ray Findley, Megan McCright, and Colton McCright.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Groves of Lubbock; daughters, Susan Findley and husband Gary of Amarillo and Janet McCright and husband Monte of Colorado City; sister, Mary Griffin of Houston; grandchildren, William H. Long and wife Misty of Cleburne, Nathan McCright and wife Michelle of Georgetown and Erica Proctor and husband Blaine of Midland; and great-grandchildren, Laila Long, Lorelai Long, Henry Long and Madeline McCright.
A visitation will be held April 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Services for Mrs. Groves will be held on April 19 at 10 a.m. at Pyron Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be on April 20, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Towle Park Armory. Arrangements were under the care of Miller Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cindy Kay Garcia, 64, of Snyder passed away April 15 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service for Mrs Garcia will be held 2 p.m. April 19 with Reverend Danny Williams officiating at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
