1948-2019
Ronnie Black, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019 in Wichita Falls.

Bill Blankenship
1932-2019
James “Bill” Durwood Blankenship, 87, of Snyder, passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2019 at his home after a lengthy illness.  
Funeral services for Mr. Blankenship will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Snyder with Hospice Chaplin Kinny Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
He was born on April 3, 1932 in DeLeon to James Rupert and Iowa (Southall) Blankenship. Bill married Norma Dean Springfield on April 22, 1956 in Ackerly. Bill and Dean celebrated a wonderful life of 63 years together. They were truly blessed with a loving family and many friends.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, he went to Odessa to work in the oilfield. In Odessa is where he met Dean. In 1954, Bill moved to Snyder while working for Baker Oil Tools. In 1980, Bill opened his own business, Blankenship Packer Service, from which he retired from the oil business 14 years later. During this time, he developed an innovative packer configuration for which he became well known.
Bill’s first love was farming and ranching. The first farm he owned was in Dublin. In 1980, he began purchasing farms in the Fluvanna area. He enjoyed making improvements in the land which helped with production.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wayne Blankenship, Olan Blankenship and Gerry Blankenship; and three sisters, Ollie George, Louise Knight and Janie Lucas.
Survivors include his wife, Dean; one sister, LaJoyce Davis of Stephenville; three daughters, Vicki Shurtleff  and her husband, Sam, of Lampasas, Lisa Hartzog and her husband, Donny, of Snyder and Pam Palacios and her husband, Antonio, of Mission; seven grandchildren, James Shurtleff, Robert Allan Shurtleff, Amanda Whitmire and her husband, Adam, Kayla Hartzog, Nathan Palacios and his wife, Ana, Jason Palacios and his wife, Alli, and Maggi Palacios; three great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Linda Burns, 77, of Snyder, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019.

Mary Courtney
1961-2019
Mary Cecelia (Pruitt) Courtney, 58, of Kyle, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 in Spring Branch.
Funeral service for Mrs. Courtney will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel with Hospice Chaplain Kinney Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Courtney was born on March 12, 1961 in Plainview to Joe Pruitt and Vera (Clark) Pruitt. She was a joyful person all the time and had a huge love for her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Vera (Clark) Pruitt, and her mother-in-law, Maxine Courtney.
Survivors include her husband, James Courtney Jr. of Kyle; one daughter, Cheyenne Schulein and her husband, Kyle, of Snyder; two sons, Taylor Courtney and his wife, Saira, and Tylor Courtney, all of Midland; four grandchildren, Elladora and Drago Schulein, both of Snyder, and Jenesis and Taylor Courtney, both of Midland; one sister, Leanne Roberson of Lubbock; and one brother, Cody Pruitt of Snyder.
