Augustine Roy Torres

1963-2022

Augustine Roy Torres, Sr., 59, passed away on December 22.

Mr. Torres was born on August 1, 1963 in Rosenberg to Jose and Dominga (Rivera) Torres. He married Heather Tamulevich on November 12, 2006, in Snyder.  He loved his family, riding his motorcycle, fishing, mechanizing and watching western movies.

He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Jose Guadalupe Torres, Jr. and David Rivera and sister, Carolina Torres.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Torres of Ira; son, Augustine Roy Torres, Jr. of Abilene; daughters, Julie Ann Torres of Cedar Park, Brenda Lynn Ornelas and husband Roberto of Snyder, Erica Elaine Anderson and husband Derek of Snyder, Cesilie Nicole Spencer and husband Todd of Snyder, JoMarie Angel Sanchez and husband Justin Leech of Colorado City, and Heidi Ann Sanchez of Ira; 11 grandchildren; mother, Dominga Torres of Snyder; brothers, Ralph Torres and wife Mary of Westbrook, Ricardo Torres and wife Janie of Sweetwater, Martin Torres of Snyder, Alvin Torres and wife Mary Ann of Brownwood and Torbio Torres of San Antonio.

Family Visitation was December 26 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Miller Family Funeral Home. Funeral services were December 27 at 11 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Davis officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home at Snyder Cemetery.

Maria Luisa Garcia

1978-2022

Maria Luisa Garcia, 44, of Snyder passed away on December 23.

Frank Dwayne Menix

1940-2022

Frank Dwayne Menix, 82, passed away December 23.

Frank was born October 7, 1940 in Dawson County to Rudolph Frank Menix and Novice Octavia (Bingham) Menix.  He was a 1959 graduate of Lamesa High School. He married Mary Ada Boardman June 4, 1963, in New Mexico they were married 16 years.  From that marriage was born his only child, Marquita.

Frank spent his life ranching in Texas and New Mexico. He worked as a ranch foreman for Spade Ranch and Indian Canyon Ranch. His passion was being a rancher, gathering cattle by horse or with his helicopter, “Big Skeeter.”  Frank was a cowman through and through. He also enjoyed working with leather and found time to make purses and saddles for his loved ones.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jay Weldon Helmer; brother, Wilbert Menix and sister, Sallie Marquita Conner.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Marquita Helmer and husband Wesley of Merkel; grandson, Colt Lockhart Helmer of Cowetta, Oklahoma; sister, Bobbie Weidemann of Ledbetter; brother, Robert Menix and wife, Sara Menix of Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service for Mr. Menix was held December 26 at 11 a.m. at Gail Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Branon Funeral Home.
