Billy Huddleston

1934-2017

Billy Don Huddleston, 82, of Snyder, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Justiceburg.

Funeral service for Mr. Huddleston will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born on June 10, 1934 in Knapp to Andy Ross and Hazel Etoil (Jordan) Huddleston, he married Janette on Jan. 13, 1990 in Snyder. Mr. Huddleston was a lifetime resident of Scurry County. He farmed and ranched all his life. He also was a state director for Texas Farm Bureau for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Martha Stoker Huddleston, and one brother, John Weldon Huddleston.

Survivors include his wife, Janette Huddleston of Snyder; three daughters, Rebecca Mayfield and her husband, Stan, of Azle, Roxanne Huddleston and her husband, Jack Hileman, of Los Angeles, Calif. and Felicia Stoker of Dallas; two stepsons, Kenny Joplin and his wife, Carolyn, and Michel Bell and his wife, Carla, all of Midland; two stepdaughters, LaChrisha Ray and her husband, Mark, of Midland and Tammy Deavours of Lubbock; one brother, Wayland Ross Huddleston and his wife, Nelda, of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and devoted ranch foreman, Filiberto Gutierrez and his wife, Mary, of Roscoe.

Mattie McEwen

1930-2017

Mattie Lee Barnett Green McEwen, 86, of Andrews, died Friday, May 19, 2017 in Big Spring.

Funeral service for Mrs. McEwen was held at 2 p.m. today in the McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Terry Way, her son and pastor of Miracles of Faith Ministry in May, officiating. Burial followed at the Andrews Old Cemetery.  

Mattie was born on Nov. 26, 1930 in Scurry County to Joseph Monroe Barnett and Mabell Taylor Barnett. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Carl Butler Barnett and Arka Barnett, in Scurry County and attended school in Ira. She lived in Andrews from 1958-82, in Snyder from 1982-2003 and returned to Andrews in 2003. She worked as a personal caregiver for many people in their homes. She was a Baptist and known for raising her children and taking care of her husbands. She loved being outdoors, watching squirrels and hummingbirds and loved her dogs, especially, Penny.  

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Way, Alvin Durden, Woodson McEwen and E.L. Green; two sons, Ricky Way and Larry Way; one  sister, Marilyn Frambow; and one brother, Harold Barnett.

Survivors include five children, Terry Way and his wife, Patricia, of May, Danny Way and his wife, Edith, of Splendora, Virgil Way and his wife, Elaine, Vickie Helms and her husband, Daryl, and Jimmy McEwen and his wife, Kelly, all of Andrews; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Geraldine Stokes, 90, of Odessa and formerly of Snyder, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Odessa.
