Bernell Bayes
1936-2019
Bernell Fryar Bayes, 82, of Big Spring, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 in a Big Spring nursing home. 
Funeral service for Mrs. Bayes will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1936 in Howard County and married Grover Charles “Tiny” Bayes on June 14, 1954 in Big Spring. Bernell worked at Coahoma State Bank for 16 years and continued working another 10 years when it changed to First Bank of West Texas. She enjoyed arts and crafts and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Imogene Harland Fryar, one sister, Ida Lou Beall, and one brother, Ronald Fryar.
Survivors include her husband, Tiny; two sons, Eddie Bayes and his wife, Audrey, and Gary Bayes and his wife, Debbie, all of Sand Springs; one daughter, Trena Whitmire and her husband, Mark, of Snyder; three brothers, Roland Fryar and his wife, Sara, of Fairview, Tommy Fryar and his wife, Donna, of Austin and Claud Fryar and his wife, Patsy, of Big Spring; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Bayes, Samantha Bayes, Riki Dorsett, Krista Dorsett, Cassidy Whitmire, Mandy Bingham, Brandon Scroggins, Nicholas Bayes, Adam Whitmire, Aaron Whitmire, Jessica Harkins and Shauna Schroeder; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Mary Garza
1955-2019
Mary Louise Garza, 63, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Lubbock.
Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Arsenio C. Redulla officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garza was born on May 10, 1955 in Taylor to Dolores and Frances (Villa) Rios. She loved her family, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Frances (Villa) Rios, her husband, Aurthor “Pepper” Garza, one brother, Pete Villa Rios, and one sister, Eva Ybarra.
She is survived by one son, Matthew Alexander Garza of Snyder; three brothers, Alex V. Rios and his wife, Connie, of Houston, David V. Rios of Colorado and Robert V. Rios of Snyder; three sisters, Frances Rios Braziel and her husband, Larry, and Delores Guerrero, all of Snyder, and Liz Rios Rangel of Seminole; one aunt, Mary Ybarra of Snyder; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.

Jaime Hernandez
1977-2019
Jaime Selena Hernandez, 42, died Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Lubbock.
Funeral mass will be held at noon Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Raj Arokiasamy officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ms. Hernandez was born on Feb. 17, 1977 in Ganado to Jose Hernandez and Lorenza (Dominguez) Zuniga. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She enjoyed scrapbooking, bingo and butterflies.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jose M. Hernandez; one brother, Joe Manuel Hernandez; her maternal grandparents, Trinidad and Dominga Dominguez; and her paternal grandparents, Anastacio and Fidela Hernandez.
Survivors include one daughter, Danica Martinez of Snyder; her mother, Lorenza Zuniga and her husband Evaristo, of Snyder; two brothers, Richard Hernandez and his wife, Antonia, of Ganado and Joseph Hernandez and his wife, Jessica, of Snyder; four sisters, Frances Martinez and her husband, Danny, Jaclyn Block and her husband Zachary, and Jessica Hernandez, all of Snyder, and Melissa Hernandez of San Antonio; five nieces; seven nephews; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Charlene Merritt
1929-2019
Charlene (Odstrcil) Merritt, 89, of Hermleigh, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Lubbock. 
Funeral service for Mrs. Merritt will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hermleigh First Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Culp officiating. Burial will follow at Hermleigh Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born on Dec. 14, 1929 in Hermleigh to Charlie and Mary Elizabeth (Cumbie) Cargile, she married Charlie Odstrcil in January 1947. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1959. She later married Ralph Merritt. She was a member of the Hermleigh First Baptist Church and was a mailcarrier for the U.S. Postal service for a number of years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Merritt; one son, Billy Joe Odstrcil; two brothers, Charles Cargile and Bill Cargile; and one son-in-law, Jerry Gannaway.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Gannaway of Hermleigh and Charlsa “Sissy” Beck and her husband, Joe, of Midland; six grandchildren, Billy Joe Gannaway and his wife, Dina, and Ricki Webb and her husband, David, all of Hermleigh, Stephane Doucette and her husband, Billy, of Snyder, Kelly Jouett and Kourtney Church and her husband, Jeremy, all of Midland, and Kimber Ottaberry and her husband, Donnie, of Andrews; and eight great-grandchildren, Avery Joiner, Shane Jouett, Riley Ottaberry, Bradley Beck, Alex Church, Danni Eaton and her husband, Nick, Rustin Webb and Josh Belton.
