Marty Clanton
1958-2018
Marlon “Marty” Clanton, 60, of Hermleigh, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 in Abilene. 
No services are planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Clanton was born on Oct. 12, 1958 in Snyder to Bobby Gene Clanton and Rhoda Eileen Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gene Clanton.
Survivors include his mother, Eileen Clanton of Hermleigh; one brother, Curtis Clanton and his wife, Leanne, of Walnut Springs, one sister, Brenda Cook of Fort Worth; one niece, Christen Cook; and three nephews, Cory, Colton and Coby Clanton.

David McCarter
1954-2018
David McCarter, 64, of Snyder, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 at his residence. 
Funeral arrangements are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Jo Sterling
1930-2018
Billie Jo Kennedy Sterling, 88, of Snyder, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2018. 
A memorial service for Mrs. Sterling will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Snyder with the Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating. The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1930 in Fairfax, Okla. to Rosa and Mark Kennedy. She graduated from Ira ISD in 1947 as salutatorian of her class. She loved playing softball and won several basketball all-tournament team trophies while attending Ira High School.
She married Howard Gene Sterling on Sept. 8, 1948 in Knapp.
Jo was a member of Snyder First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ira Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) from 1955-73. She was the recipient of a Texas life membership in the Texas State PTA in 1966. She served as president, secretary and treasurer on many committees of the Ira organization.
She was an avid golfer, beginning in 1972, as she served on many Snyder Ladies’ Golf Association committees. She was the Snyder Country Club ladies’ club champion in 1978 and made a hole-in-one in May 1988. She was a Snyder rural mail carrier from 1989-1997, president of the Snyder chapter of the American Cancer Society and church treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years at Ira Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Howard Sterling, on Dec. 24, 1965; her parents, Rosa and Mark Kennedy; one son-in-law, Merle Blosser; one sister, Melba Kennedy Morgan; and one great-grandson, Holden Newell Erwin.
Jo, otherwise known as “Gran,” is survived by her husband of 70 years, Howard Sterling. She is also survived by two daughters, two sons-in-law, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, those being daughter, Connie Jo Sterling Dry and her husband, Douglas Dry, of Lubbock; Connie’s daughter, Shea Nicole Blosser of Lubbock; Shea’s children, Scout Sterling Blosser and Cutter Sterling Blosser; Connie’s daughter, Brooke Noe Blosser Neal and her husband, Tyler Neal, of Lubbock; Brooke’s children, Emerson Sterling Neal, Griffin Thomas Neal, Sawyer Elizabeth Neal and Collins Grace Neal; daughter, Leigh Ann Erwin and her husband, Randy Erwin, of Colorado City; Leigh Ann’s son, Heath Donald Erwin of Colorado City; Heath’s children, Tye Howard Erwin and Shelby Danielle Erwin; Leigh’s son, John Randolph Erwin III and his wife, Carrie Erwin, of Lubbock; John’s children, J.R. Erwin IV and Caul Sterling Erwin; Leigh’s son, Chet Sterling Erwin of McKinney; and Chet’s daughters, Grey Danelle Erwin and Rose Catherine Erwin.
