Ronald Bratton

1936-2015

Ronald Z. Bratton Sr., 79, of Victoria and formerly of Snyder, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 in Victoria.

Funeral service for Mr. Bratton will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Jay Mayo, associate pastor at Stonegate Fellowship in Midland, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Born on April 4, 1936 in Brad to the late Hugh and Ellen (Parker) Bratton, he retired after 35 years as a mechanic for Sun Ray DX Oil, Sun Gas and Oryx.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Shirlene Bratton.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Z. Bratton Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Bay City; and one daughter, Rona Schmedt and her husband, Mark, of Victoria; one sister, Beverly Mayo of Midland; one brother, Lynn Bratton of Burnet; and three grandchildren, Ronald Zane Bratton III, Keri Bratton and Trey Schmedt.

The family would like to express special thanks to friends and neighbors, Kent and Marie Scrivner for their love and care.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Neva Frith

1947-2015

Neva Joyce Hatfield Frith, 68, of Odessa, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 in Odessa.

Funeral service for Mrs. Frith will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa with the Rev. Marcus Zuniga officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Born on Aug. 18, 1947 in Snyder, to J.R. “Bud” Heath and Vivian Oleta Lindsey Heath, she graduated from Snyder High School in 1965. She worked for Furr’s Cafeteria for 28 years. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. “Bud” and Vivian Oleta Heath; one brother, James Heath; her husband of four years, Larry Seaton; her husband of 36 years, Delmo Hatfield; and her husband of four years, Adrian Frith.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Hatfield and his wife, Sandra, and Jason Hatfield and his wife, Veronica, both of Odessa; one daughter, Trina Upshaw and her husband, Billy, of Snyder; five grandchildren, Dustin Jones, Victoria Hatfield, Jaden Hatfield, Logan Longino and Sofia Hatfield; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Victoria Hatfield, Dustin Jones, Tony Koya, Gerald Tolifson, Jacob Tolifson and Nick Tolifson.

Lola Goforth

1932-2015

Lola Mae Goforth, 83, of Lamesa, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 in Lamesa.

Funeral service for Mrs. Goforth, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Second Baptist Church with Syl Moore and Dennis Adams officiating.  Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.  

Born on Jan. 27, 1932 in Olney to Sam Edward and Lola Lee (Tomlinson) Cumbie, she married Ocie H. Goforth on Sept. 18, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Kermit by Strauss Atkinson. She was a member of Second Baptist Church for many years and taught Sunday school, was very involved with Training Union and worked with the youth. She worked at Kid’s Korner when her children were in school and later at JC Penney. She loved the Lord and her family.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.   

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ocie Goforth; her children, David Goforth and his wife, Michele, of Levelland, Judy Stephens and Jana Furlow and her husband, Robby, both of Lamesa; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Merl Richardson

1939-2015

Merl Ann Richardson, 75, of Snyder, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015.
