Bulldogs lose to Borden County

IRA — The Ira Bulldogs lost to Borden County 83-47 in a District 12-1A basketball game Monday.

Ira trailed 22-20 after the first quarter and Borden County outscored the Bulldogs 24-5 in the second quarter to build a 46-25 halftime lead.

The Coyotes increased the lead to 64-32 going into the fourth quarter.

Anthony Sosa scored 13 points for Ira while Ramiro Rios had 11 points. Karson Valentine added 10 points. 

Easton Edwards led Borden County with 19 points. Nick Proulx had 17 points, followed by Braxton Barnes with 16 and Trace Richey with 15.

Ira (12-15, 6-4)  will play Dawson in a Class 1A bi-district playoff game at a time and site to be announced. Borden County (16-2, 10-0) earned a bye to the area round.

Ira scorers — Anthony Sosa 13, Ramiro Rios 11, Karson Valentine 10, Emanual Cabrera 4, Brayden Corley 4, Nathan Goodwin 3, Adam Highfield 2.

JV

The Ira JV team lost to Borden County, 41-27.

Hunter McCowen scored seven points for the Bulldogs.  Cam Edwards led Borden County with 19 points.
