Cortes named player of the week

Western Texas College’s Jesus Cortes received the soccer player of the week award for Region V in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Cortes a freshman from El Paso, scored five goals and had one assist in three matches last week.
In the 1-1 tie with Ranger College, Cortes scored late in the match for the Westerners’ goal. He had an assist and scored a goal to lead WTC to a 2-0 victory over No. 19 Rose State College. Cortes scored three goals in the Westerners’ 5-1 victory against Murray State College.
