JAYTON — The Ira Lady Bulldogs defeated Knox City 52-39 in a practice basketball game Friday.
Ira led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 26-23 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs outscored Knox City 12-0 during the third quarter.
Madison Peterson led Ira with 22 points while Alyssa Goodwin scored 15 points with two assists and six rebounds. Sierra Welch had 11 points, two assists and 11 rebounds. Lexie Hanshew had two assists and five rebounds while Abby Manning had five rebounds.
Ira (25-6) will play the Sierra Blanca-Grandsfall-Royalty winner in a Class 1A area playoff game. Sierra Blanca and Grandsfall-Royalty will play a bi-district playoff game at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Pecos.

BIG SPRING — The Snyder freshman boys team defeated Big Spring 53-40 Friday.
Kobe Roemisch scored a game-high 18 points. Ryan Rodriguez had nine points and Teafale Lenard added seven points.
