HENRIETTA — The Snyder Lady Tigers did not take the easy road to the Region 1-4A championship series.
After Friday’s loss to Kennedale, the Lady Tigers won both games Saturday, 4-2 and 9-4, to win the regional semifinal series.
Snyder (29-11) will play Brownwood (23-8) in the regional finals. Brownwood won its series against Big Spring 2-0. The coaches are scheduled to decide the site and times for the three-game series.
The series information will be posted on the Snyder Daily News Facebook Page as soon as it becomes available today.
“Friday was a rough loss,” Snyder head coach Liz Kimbell said. “We had problems offensively and defensively. The players got together at the hotel and got the plan together for Saturday.  They knew they had to focus for two games and got the job done.”
Megan Leatherwood allowed six hits and two runs in the 4-2 victory over the Ladykats. Leatherwood struck out seven and walked one and did not allow a run until the seventh inning.
“The lineup was made out for the first game with Cholee (James) pitching,” Kimbell said. “I made the switch and Kennedale’s mouths dropped. Megan did a great job keeping them off-balance.”
In the second game, James allowed 10 hits and four runs with three strikeouts and two walks.
“Cholee was ready to go,” Kimbell said. “We won the coin toss to be the home team, which added to the momentum. She relied on the defense and hit her spots.”
