WHITE SETTLEMENT — The Snyder Lady Tigers opened the Brewer Lady Bearcat Softball Tournament with wins over Weatherford and Nolan Catholic on Thursday.
Snyder scored nine runs in the fourth inning during the 13-2 win against Weatherford. Cholee James hit a two-run double, Hailey Morris had a RBI double and Claudia Gutierrez had a triple with one RBI. Cailey Coy and Megan Leatherwood had RBI singles and two runs scored on infield outs.
Jasmine Montoya hit two singles with four RBIs. Gutierrez had a single and triple with two RBIs. Shayde Millican had two singles.
Leatherwood was the winning pitcher.
Morris had a single, two doubles and a home run in the 8-4 win over Nolan. The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the fifth inning to take the 8-4 lead. Bailey Garcia and Leatherwood stole home and the final run came on an infield out.
Millican hit a double and triple with two RBIs. Leatherwood, Garcia, Gutierrez, Montoya and James each had two singles.
James was the winning pitcher.
Snyder was scheduled to play Plainview at 11 a.m. today, followed by Joshua at 1 p.m.

Rotan Tournament
ROTAN — The Ira Lady Bulldogs opened the season by defeating Rotan 7-6 at the Rotan tournament.
After Rotan took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the inning. Jenna Lane and Michelle Brazil hit RBI singles and Savannah Juarez and Hannah Womack stole home.
In the second inning, Jordan Ruiz hit a double to score Ashlee Bowlin to give Ira a 5-4 lead.
Rotan scored two runs on two Ira errors in the third, but Ira regained the lead in the fourth, highlighted by Womack’s single.
Brazil and Lane each hit a single and double. Lane was the winning pitcher.
The Lady Bulldogs will conclude the tournament on Saturday.
