With all five varsity players sitting in the top 10, the Snyder Lady Tiger golf team will take a 45-shot lead into next week’s second round of the District 5-4A golf tournament.
As a team, the varsity shot 349 with Big Spring sitting second at 394 following the first round, which was held at the Big Spring Country Club. Snyder II is currently third at 395.
The second round is scheduled for Thursday at the Brentwood Country Club in San Angelo.
Cylie Velasquez is second overall with an 84, one shot behind Greenwood’s Kaylee Cheek (83). Laura Ortegon and Jalia Williams are tied for third at 87 while Tyleigh Price is fifth at 91. AmyAnn Villanueva rounded out the varsity score with a 94 and is in eighth place.
Kalysa Burleson led the Snyder II team with a first-round 95, which tied her for ninth place. Caitlyn Crane was 11th with a 96 while Jordyn Stewart was 15th at 99, Abby Alvarado was 24th at 105 and Barilynn Garcia was 26th at 109.
Two Snyder golfers played as individuals during the first round — Dani Greer and Erin Crane were tied for 27th at 111.
