MERTZON — Hermleigh’s Amanda Long qualified for the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifters Association state meet by winning the 220-pound weight class at Friday’s Region 1, Division 3 meet.
Long lifted a total of 910 pounds — 410 in the squat, 150 in the bench press and 350 in the deadlift.
Hermleigh finished tied for 10th in the team standings with seven points.
The state meet will be at Waco’s Extract Events Center March 18.
