Scurry County players named to all-district basketball team

Twelve Scurry County basketball players were named to the District 12-1A girls’ all-district team.

Ira’s Alyssa Goodwin was named the district’s most valuable player while teammate Madison Peterson was named the offensive player of the year. Hermleigh’s Brishaya Sneed received the defensive player of the year award.

Goodwin averaged 17 points per game this season while Peterson averaged 16 points. Sneed averaged 15 points per game.

First team selections were Ira’s Sierra Welch and Lexi Hanshew, Hermleigh’s Aaliyah Sneed and Kelsey Digby and Borden County’s Emma Key, Rayme Jones and Baylee Walker.

Second team selections were Ira’s Alyssa Chavez, Hermleigh’s Lillyan Digby and Borden County’s Katie Bray and Madi Cole.

Three Ira players were honorable mention selections — Lindsey Womack, Karina Cowan and Abby Manning.
