COLORADO CITY — The Snyder girls weightlifting team competed in the C-City Invitational in Colorado City last weekend.
Bonnie Jasper and Saraya Velasquez earned outstanding lifter honors for the second straight meet and the girls team won the event with a total score of 39 points.
Velasquez dominated the 165-pound weight class, recording a total of 970 pounds, the second highest total being 710, and leading all girls at the event in squat and deadlift.
Jasper also dominated the 181-pound weight class, with a total of 955 pounds. Her 225 pounds on bench led all female competitors at the competition.
Sidni Hunter won the 132-pound weight class, edging Cailey Glover of Coahaoma by 10 total pounds.
On the boys’ side, the team finished fourth, edging Sweetwater by four points.
Reyes Silva finished as the outstanding lifter, heavy platform.
He led the 220-pound weight class with a total of 1,600 pounds and finished with the highest squat, bench and deadlift subtotal in the entire event.

220-pound weight class: 1. Reyes Silva, 1,600 pounds (700 squat, 350 bench, 550 dead lift); 6. Xander Richardson, 1,240 pounds (505 squat, 260 bench, 475 deadlift).
