The Snyder Tigers were limited to one hit in a 17-0 loss to No. 2 Wylie in the 5-4A baseball opener at Moffett Field Tuesday.

Wylie’s Connor Carlton allowed only a Jarrett Reneau bunt single in the fourth inning. The only other Snyder runner to reach base was on a seventh-inning error.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the first inning and five runs in the second inning to build an 8-0 lead.

Wylie increased the lead to 12-0 after three innings and scored five runs in the fifth.

“One loss won’t ruin our district season or determine whether we get to the playoffs,” Snyder head coach Shane Stewart said. “We knew Wylie had a very good team and it would be a tough game. We won’t let this loss define our season.”

Snyder (9-8, 0-1) will play at Sweetwater, which lost at Big Spring 4-1, at 7 p.m. Friday.

“We need to come back and practice well for the next two days,” Stewart said. “We plan to go for a win at Sweetwater.”
