Tigers fall to Big Spring in district road game

BIG SPRING — A 9-0 second quarter run helped Big Spring claim a 62-55 District 2-4A basketball game win over Snyder Tuesday.
The two teams played even during the first quarter, ending in a 14-14 tie. Big Spring took control of the game with the 9-0 run and led 35-25 at halftime.
Snyder (17-5, 0-2) trailed 43-28 midway through the third quarter. Dralon Jackson, who scored a game-high 24 points, hit a 3-pointer, drew a foul and made the free throw to cut the deficit to 43-33. The Steers (7-16, 1-1) outscored Snyder 5-1 over the next two minutes and led 48-34 going into the fourth quarter.
Big Spring’s double-digit lead lasted until late in the game when the Tigers cut it to 58-53 with 1:50 left. Snyder was not able to get any closer.
Abram Smith added 13 points.

Girls
Snyder (2-20, 0-4) pulled to within two points early in the fourth quarter, but Big Spring maintained the lead to claim a 41-36 win.
The Lady Steers (11-12, 2-2) started the game on a 7-0 run. Alize Conner, who led Snyder with 11 points, made a field goal with 4:30 left in the first quarter.
A 3-pointer by Alyssa Benitez cut Big Spring’s lead to 9-7, but the Lady Steers took an 11-7 lead going into the second quarter.
Big Spring built a 15-7 lead before Snyder cut it to 16-13. The Lady Tigers trailed 19-15 at halftime.
Kirsti Pierce and Connor each scored to tie the game at 19-19 early in the third quarter. The Lady Steers answered with five unanswered points, but Bailey Garcia’s 3-pointer pulled Snyder to within 24-22.
Big Spring finished the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 29-22 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Tigers started the quarter on a 5-0 run and trailed 29-27 with six minutes left in the game. Big Spring increased the lead to 34-27 and held off a late Snyder rally.

JV Black girls
Three players scored in double figures to lead the Snyder JV Black team past Big Spring, 53-17.
Marisol Molinar had a game-high 15 points. Krissida Trevina scored 12 points and Jordan Phillips added 10 points.
Snyder will host Levelland on Friday.
