Tigers start tournament with win

LEVELLAND — Three Snyder pitchers combined on a six-hitter in a 10-2 win over Levelland at the Shallowater Baseball Tournament Thursday.

Matt Bass pitched in the first inning, Jake Chavez, who picked up the win, worked 2.1 innings and Jarrett Reneau pitched the final two innings.

Snyder scored four runs in the top of the second inning, highlighted by Zane Vandygriff two-run triple. Snyder also scored runs on a ground out and passed ball.

In the third, Bass and Vandygriff each hit an RBI single while two runs were scored on a ground out and passed ball. Levelland scored two runs in the bottom of the inning.

In the fourth, Snyder scored one run on a bases-loaded walk and Aaron Escobedo hit an RBI single.

Vandygriff hit a single and triple with three RBIs. Escobedo had two singles.

The Tigers (1-1) were scheduled to play Lubbock Christian High School at 12:30 p.m. today. Snyder will play two games Saturday.
