Westerners beat Frank Phillips, 114-70

BORGER — Western Texas College remained tied for second place with Odessa College in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference after beating Frank Phillips College 114-70 Thursday.

The Westerners (19-8, 11-3) led 50-27 at halftime after shooting 20-of-33 from the field. WTC made 22-of-32 field goals in the second half in outscoring Frank Phillips 64-43.

Anton Bilous scored a game high 23 points, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. Demarcus Hatfield had 16 points while Christian Bennings added 15 points. Kevin Hicks and Brian Roberts scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

DaQuan Jeffries had seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Jordan Tolbert and Jordan Fullerton had six and four assists, respectively.

Women

Western Texas College (12-11, 5-7) is still alive for a Region V Tournament berth following a 70-61 victory over Frank Phillips College.

Catara Samuel and Mayra Garcia each scored 16 points. Kyra Lewis added 13 points. Garcia had seven rebounds and two blocks. Allison Valdez and Samuel each had four assists and three steals. 

WTC will host Clarendon College in a Monday doubleheader beginning at 5:45 p.m.
