The Western Texas College men’s basketball team added it’s first recruit for the 2020-21 season, getting a commitment from Duncanville High School point guard Ja’Bryant Hill.
Hill brings a championship pedigree to the Westerner program, having been a part of the 2019 state champion Duncanville team that qualified again in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the state tournament’s cancellation. Hill held offers from several Division II schools, including University of Texas, Permian Basin.
Look for Hill to back up sophomore point guard C.J. Smith next season, another undersized guard who averaged 14.9 points per game last season.
Smith is the first recruit brought in by second-year head coach Kyle Cooper.
Cooper and his staff will have to replace a majority of the roster heading into next season. The Westerners graduated eight sophomores and sent freshman Ben Smith to the next level as well.
